Warangal Urban: An innovation expo- Abhivyakta 2019 is being organised at SR Engineering College, here with a vision to encourage innovative thinking among engineering students.
The College Director, CV Guru Rao, said the change in curriculum had brought ecosystem of technology, design and entrepreneurship. A design movement had been taking shape in campus as most technical students had crossed the attitudinal barriers, he added.
The students were able to make their hands dirty by developing or building prototypes, he said appreciating faculty and students for coming together and grooming good culture in the campus.
Innovative Manager and Idea Coach from Cyient, Manoj Kaushal lauded the efforts of the institute in integrating engineering and design aspects into the thinking of students. He narrated his experiences about innovation, entrepreneurship and eagerness to learn and explore.
UX Designer, Agrometrics N Vinod, highlighted the role of engineers in the society and added that job prospects could be improved through problem solving abilities. Creativity was essential for budding engineers, he said.
The students designed products such as Lakshman Rekha, a traffic signal monitor that inflates and deflates a comic character to restrict the traffic from moving ahead of Zebra crossing during the signal change.
Groot, an artificial tree that filters the pollution at most populated and crowded areas, and Efficycle , a hybrid vehicle which runs with batteries and could be used for disabled people were among the products on display.
Around 63 products were showcased in the event for the jury to evaluate. Winners would be awarded cash prize of total Rs 1, 00, 000 to work on their idea.
K Santhosh, in-charge Centre for Design, R Archana Reddy, Dean Academics, M Sampath Reddy, and other faculty and staff were present.
