Studio Pepperfry is one place that’s liable to be labelled a store in many ways, but it’s fitting to call it an experience centre, vis. a bridge between a store and an office that does much more than pleasing your senses. Located at Western Pearl in Hitec City, the three-month old studio gives shoppers a visual experience of what they are to buy from the online division. That’s the catch, you can’t pick up what you see. It’s a place where interior designers Aparajita and Bhagyasree work collectively to advise what works best for a luxurious home/workspace, assisting them are modular bedroom, kitchen, bar, console tables, chairs and similar elements that work for such a setup. There’s so much choice on the plate that customisation is hardly needed here.
A series of multi-coloured ropes are tied to a pillar at the entrance, there are metal chains tied to the ceiling behind which there are tables made of many types of wood (from teak wood, mango wood to knotty wood, to name a few). The wide open space encompasses a range of furniture that rings in a wonderful blend of old-world charm and modernity. There are aesthetic resting chairs, beds, tables in different sections of the space. For those who crave for nostalgia, a section of the furniture is themed around how articles bought in the 80s and 90s would age over time. There are deceptive floral designs for a bar, you’re literally asked not to judge a book by its cover. P Jayachandra, regional manager for Studio Pepperfry, Hyderabad describes that the workplace for the designers and their team is very much like home, given the interior decor and the different sections of the space where they have lunches each day.
A teak wood table is where the interior designers generally discuss with their clients, a visual projection onto a television set helps their cause. There are teal and indigo-coloured walls, some are brick-themed, some others bear various designs and terms playing around interior decor jargon including bohemiana, woodsworth, amberville and mudramark besides a quote like ‘Creativity is intelligence having fun’.
Ashish Shah, Founder and COO, Pepperfry, adds, “The studio is managed by interior designers and architects, from whom the customers can avail expert interior design consulting services in order to help pick what suits their home and reflects their personality best. Hence, design takes the forefront in our studios as we want our customers to seek inspiration from it for every room and corner in their homes.” He envisages the studio as a co-working space for the designer and architect community. The interior design (which changes every three months) feels eclectic but classy, truly reflecting the trends and taking an inspirational cue from the city.
